Student and Faculty Orientation Resources

Welcome to Baptist! We are delighted to host you and your students for clinical experiences on our campus. The Nursing Clinical Development Department is available to assist you in coordinating nursing student experiences and precepted opportunities. Please email Tracy Lindsay ([email protected]) or Beth Chandler ([email protected]) for questions regarding these processes. To improve your clinical experience, we have also designated Fridays from 9-12 as Clinical Affiliate Days.  During this time, our specialist will be available to answer questions regarding onboarding paperwork, Uperform, Epic access, and clinical experiences.

Classroom Reservations can be made by emailing [email protected], at least 14 days prior to the desired date. Due to limited space, please request more than one reservation date. Please be aware the Clinical Nursing Development Department is not responsible for reserving rooms outside of this department. To reserve a computer lab for Epic training or classrooms for post conference, please email [email protected].

Documents REQUIRED for student/instructor Onboarding:
As a reminder, all onboarding paperwork is needed at least 2 weeks in advance prior to clinicals. Student groups will not be allowed on campus unless all paperwork is submitted.

Electronic Health Record - Documentation

The electronic charting system is called Epic, and all units use the system in some format. Students are required to attend an official Epic class when charting on an applicable unit. Instructors are to review the documentation of a student for accuracy and co-sign. A student is NOT allowed to chart under the instructor or anyone else's login and password.

Access to document in the EHR is assigned per semester and ends with the clinical end date. Returning students do not need to repeat the Epic training if they have logged into Epic within 6 months. Please reach out to the Clinical Nursing Development department if this applies to you.

Please call the help desk at extension 1122 (from any internal phone), or 901-227-7777, if you or your group is having difficulty with logins.

**Please note our department cannot correct login issues, you will need to communicate with the help desk directly**

Epic training can be conducted remotely. A Certified Trainer (CT) is required for each school to conduct the training. The online training can be found here: https://bmhcc.my.uperform.com/.  The CT will complete the uPerform content using this link and show all participants the online training. This can be done via a projector or sharing of a computer screen depending on the number of students. Once uPerform has been completed, each student and instructor will scan the QR code and fill out all the information on the spreadsheet. This process will still take the IT Department around 48-72 hours to process; however, we encourage you all to conduct training at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure account activation. We also highly encourage the CT to host all students at one time to ensure account creation in a timely manner. Multiple submissions can cause delays in account creation.

The expectation is for faculty of student groups to have a CT to teach their clinical students, utilizing the uPerform platform. The uPerform training must be completed for Epic access. If you need more information regarding how to become a CT, please email us.
