Beautiful Bundles – New Mom's Group
This "free group" is facilitated by mother/baby nurses who are available to provide instruction and support as well as answer questions. This weekly group meets on Thursdays in the 5th floor conference from 12:30 – 2:30 pm. Moms can get accurate and reliable information on sleeping issues, breastfeeding, safety issues as well as normal growth and development of their newborn. This group also provides a great opportunity for moms to bond with other new moms, share experiences and gain reassurance. For additional information please call 901-227-9873.
Car Seat Program
An additional service provided to our moms delivering at the Women's Hospital. We provide assistance and education regarding car seat installation and safety. You can call and set up an appointment to have your car seat checked and learn how to install it and use it properly. The nurses who assist with the program are all certified "car passenger safety technicians". Appointments can be set up Monday – Friday between the hours of 9am – 3pm, we also assist parents in the hospital prior to discharge. To set up an appointment please call 901-227-9027.
Universal Parenting Place
Baptist Women's Hospital is one of two locations for this program. The UPP is a confidential judgment free zone that provides programs, counseling and other activities to help parents become "better parents". All services provided by UPP are free of charge to anyone in the community. Group activities include our Beautiful Bundles Group, Toddler Group, Music for Aardvarks & Playback Memphis as well as other scheduled seminars and workshops. Free individual counseling is provided by licensed social workers with the goal being to help parents work successfully through any parenting issues or challenges they are experiencing. Some examples of issues that counselors can help parents deal with include: infant care issues such as crying & colicky babies, baby sleep issues, postpartum depression, special needs children, children with ADHD or Autism, blended families or single parenting. No referral is needed and parents can talk to a counselor, set up a counseling session or find out more about UPP services by calling 901-227-9558.
This group is offered through the Universal Parenting Place. It is facilitated by a licensed social worker. Moms attend group with their toddlers and receive information and support as well as participating in "hands-on activities" they do in group with their toddler.
