Healing Care with Compassion and Grace
In keeping with the three-fold ministry of Christ of healing, teaching and preaching, Baptist Memorial Health Care is committed to providing quality health care.
Our key principles of patient and family-centered care are:
- You and your child are treated with dignity and respect.
- As health care providers, we will communicate and share complete and unbiased information with you and your child in ways that are clear, affirming and useful.
- We will help you and your child build on your strengths to enhance control and independence in your own health care.
- A collaborative approach involving you, your child and our providers drives our policies, program development, professional education, and the delivery of exceptional care.
- Patient care and safety are our top priorities.
To effectively maintain our high standards of care, we conduct random patient surveys. If your child is selected to participate, you will receive a survey via email with questions about your child's experience in our hospital. This is an anonymous survey conducted by a third party, and you and your child's information will not be shared with any outside agency. The information you provide helps us to improve our services, and we truly appreciate your feedback.
If you have concerns about the care you and your child receive at Baptist, please notify your child's care team or the Quality Care Line at 901-227-9888 or 1-877-BMH-TIPS.
Baptist Children's Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization created in 1951 that accredits more than 20,000 US health care programs and organizations. With your child as our patient, you have the right to report any unresolved safety concerns by contacting The Joint Commission at [email protected], using the “Report a Patient Safety Event” link at jointcommission.org, faxing to 630-792-5636 or writing to The Office of Quality and Patient Safety (OQPS), The Joint Commission, One Renaissance Boulevard, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois 60181. You may also call 630-792-5800 to request an online form from The Joint Commission.
At this time, visitors are limited to parents or legal guardians only. Please check for updates to our visitation policy by asking the patient care assistant, a nurse or by looking for signage in our hospital. Baptist Children's Hospital is a family-friendly, controlled access environment.
Your child's room assignment at Baptist Children's Hospital is based upon their admitting diagnosis and bed availability on the day of their admission.
Hospital beds are electronically adjustable, and the nurse will show you and your child how to work the bed properly.
All rooms in the hospital have a thermostat in the room. Please feel free to adjust the temperature to suit you and your child's level of comfort. Please notify the nursing staff if you need assistance.
