About Caylee
A Birmingham, AL native, Caylee attended Auburn University for both her undergraduate studies and pharmacy school. A passionate Auburn fan, she especially enjoys following Auburn football, basketball and gymnastics. In her free time, she loves spending time with family and friends, traveling throughout the United States and abroad, exploring antique shops and baking.
Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
I chose pharmacy because there are multiple career paths to choose from within pharmacy. I was also interested in being in the health care field since I was little and wanting to help people in their times of need. I think having others in my family being in health care, also as pharmacists, also really influenced my career choice.
Why did you choose Baptist?
Mississippi Baptist Medical Center has a welcoming environment and pharmacists who are committed to helping you learn and grow in the profession. Everyone here is so nice and very supportive. Apart from the people, I also chose Baptist because they offered rotations in my clinical interest areas. It was important to me for my residency program to show good interdepartmental teamwork while valuing resident development and growth, both of which Baptist offers.
What is your day like?
Each day looks a little different depending on the rotation and service I am on. I typically start my day by reviewing my patients on the service, participating in rounds, and making treatment recommendations or adjustments as needed. I then document my assessments, findings and recommendations. The rest of my day varies depending on the rotation, but it often includes patient follow-ups, topic discussions, projects and other learning opportunities. One of the most rewarding aspects of residency is the variety each day brings, as every rotation offers unique experiences, challenges and opportunities for growth.
What's your favorite thing about Jackson?
I am new to Jackson, but I love exploring in the surrounding cities. I've loved going to new antiques stores, coffee shops and restaurants.
Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?
What makes this program special is the people. Everyone is genuinely committed to helping you succeed and is always willing to teach, support and learn alongside you. Residents are fully supported and given the tools, resources and encouragement needed to achieve their goals.

About Hosam
Hosam is originally from Flowood, MS. He enjoys playing and watching soccer, going to movies with friends and playing video games. He also enjoys spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
I chose pharmacy because, from a young age, I often accompanied my mom to the pharmacy. I was always impressed by the pharmacists' knowledge and the time they took to explain her medications and answer her questions. Those experiences sparked my initial interest in pharmacy and inspired me to pursue a career that would challenge me intellectually. Above all, however, the most important reason I chose this profession is my passion for helping people and making a positive impact on their lives.
Why did you choose Baptist?
I chose Baptist after my residency interview. I had participated in other residency interviews, but my experience at Baptist felt the most welcoming. It really made me feel like everyone here was part of a family and that was something that I really wanted to be a part of.
What is your day like?
Our first month of residency is dedicated to orientation. During this time, we spend each day becoming familiar with a variety of pharmacy services, including diabetes management, nutrition support, anticoagulation and pharmacokinetics. I've really enjoyed the experience because every day offers something different. It provides an opportunity to apply and reinforce clinical knowledge, work closely with patients and providers and make meaningful interventions that positively impact patient care.
Why would you recommend Baptist to a prospective applicant?
My co-residents and I have only been here a short time, but our experience so far has been outstanding. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and genuinely invested in helping us become the best pharmacist we can be. Even during orientation, I have already seen how this program will strengthen my clinical skills and help me develop into a more well-rounded clinician prepared to practice in a variety of settings. Additionally, the hospital's protocols and collaborative practice agreements provide residents with valuable opportunities for autonomy and clinical decision-making, allowing us to play an active role in patient care.

About Madeline
A Jackson, MS native, Madeline is happy to call the Jackson area home once again, where she and her husband enjoy being near family. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, exploring new coffee shops, reading, baking, needlepointing and cross-stitching.
Why did you choose pharmacy as a career?
My passion for pharmacy began with my cousin. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, she was given just six months to live. Through participation in clinical trials, she was able to spend four additional years with her family. Watching her journey was the first time I truly understood the power of medicine, not only to treat disease, but also to provide hope and create meaningful time with the people we love. That experience inspired me to pursue a career where I could make a difference in patients' lives through evidence-based, compassionate care. Combined with my passion for science and problem-solving, pharmacy became the perfect intersection of my academic interests and desire to serve others. It continues to remind me that every medication, recommendation, and clinical decision has the potential to make a lasting impact on patients and their families.
Why did you choose Baptist?
Choosing Baptist felt like coming home. As a Mississippi native, I was excited to begin my career while serving the community that helped shape who I am today. Throughout the interview process, I quickly saw the genuine investment that preceptors and residents have in one another's success. It was clear that Baptist is committed not only to developing exceptional clinicians, but also to fostering a culture of mentorship, compassion and teamwork. I wanted a residency program that would challenge me, expose me to a diverse range of patient care experiences, and encourage me to explore my clinical interests while growing into a confident pharmacist. Baptist offered all those opportunities, but what ultimately set it apart was the people. I left the interview feeling confident that I had found a place where I would be supported, encouraged and challenged to become the best pharmacist I can be.
What is your day like?
No two days are exactly the same, which is one of my favorite parts of residency. Most days begin with reviewing patient charts, preparing for rounds and collaborating with the team to optimize medication therapy. Depending on the rotation, my day may also include topic discussions, journal clubs, presentations, research projects or precepting pharmacy students. What I enjoy most is that each day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn, making every rotation a unique and rewarding experience.
What's your favorite thing about Jackson?
One of my favorite things about Jackson is that it has given me the opportunity to return home to Mississippi. Being close to family while beginning residency has made this season of life especially meaningful. I also enjoy exploring the area's local restaurants and coffee shops.

I would recommend Baptist to any prospective applicant because of its people. From the very beginning, I felt welcomed and supported by the preceptors, former residents and the entire pharmacy team. The culture encourages residents to ask questions, challenge themselves and grow, all while knowing they have a strong support system invested in their success. Beyond the supportive environment, Baptist offers a wide variety of clinical experiences that allow residents to build a strong foundation while exploring their individual interests.
