Pulmonary Rehab Services at Baptist DeSoto

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is now the third leading cause of death in the United States. More than 140,000 Mississippians are estimated to have COPD.

Baptist DeSoto is the only Mid-South hospital offering outpatient rehabilitation services for patients with COPD, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and other serious lung diseases.

Our goal is to offer patients instruction on:

  • Proper breathing techniques
  • Conserving energy in daily living
  • Identifying the signs of fatigue
  • Exercises that will build endurance

Physician referral is required. Medicare and most private insurance pay for COPD rehab. For more information about how Baptist DeSoto is working to help manage COPD, please call 662-772-4000.
