Mississippi Baptist Medical Center participates in trial aimed at improving patients’ quality of life post-prostatectomy

JACKSON, Miss., Aug. 26, 2025–Mississippi Baptist Medical Center has enrolled its first patients in the ARID II trial to evaluate the safety of an implantable device designed to help men regain urinary control and improve quality of life after prostate removal surgery.

Urinary incontinence is common following prostate removal, with two-thirds of men reporting ongoing issues at six months, and nearly one-third are still affected a year after surgery.

“Post-operative incontinence is one of the most difficult challenges patients face after prostate surgery,” said Dr. Patrick Daily, urologist with Mississippi Urology Clinic and Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. “We are excited to participate in a study exploring a promising solution for post-surgical incontinence in men.”

Principal investigators for the local study are Daily and Dr. Jason Blalock, also a urologist with Mississippi Urology Clinic and MBMC. ARID II will enroll 266 participants across 30 centers. Participants are randomly assigned to either receive the investigational device or not and are followed for up to two years to assess safety and efficacy.
