What can a patient expect when they have you as a doctor?

Patients can expect a thorough and thoughtful approach to their problem. We will go over the diagnosis together and the treatment of the problem in detail, including explanation of the surgery, risks and benefits of the proposed procedure and any alternatives that may be possible. I want the patients to be participants in their own care so giving the knowledge to make that decision is imperative to me.

What is the most important factor in a doctor patient relationship and why?

Communication. It is the most important aspect of the doctor-patient relationship. I believe that it is a vulnerable time for a patient when they have to seek surgical intervention. To be able to properly communicate the problem, solutions, outcomes and setting reasonable expectations benefit both parties and helps patients along this difficult time.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy when you're not working?

I enjoy traveling, photography and robotics.

What about your line of work do you find the most rewarding and why?

The satisfaction of permanently helping fix a problem for a patient is the most rewarding thing for a surgeon. There are definitely conditions where we cannot permanently fix issues, but helping to attain a better quality of life is why I went into this field in the first place.
