Gastric Emptying Liquid Study
What is a gastric emptying liquid study?
A gastric emptying liquid study is a nuclear medicine test. It uses a small amount of radioactive material and a special camera to produce images that determine how long it takes a liquid meal to move through your stomach.
Why has my physician ordered this exam?
This test can help your physician diagnose the cause of abdominal pain, frequent vomiting, gastroparesis (delayed emptying), and other symptoms. A gastric emptying liquid study may also be part of a preoperative evaluation.
