What is a cisternogram?
A cisternogram is a nuclear medicine test. It uses a small amount of radioactive material (a radionuclide) and a special camera to produce images.
Why has my physician ordered this exam?
This test provides images that help evaluate cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulation in the spinal cord and the ventricles of the brain. Your physician may call for a cisternogram to help assess the flow of your CSF, or to diagnose or rule out a CSF leak.
