CT Angiography (CTA)

What is a computed tomography angiography (CTA)?

A computed tomography (CT) scan is a noninvasive exam. A CTA is a scan that produces 3-D images of your veins and arteries.

Why has my physician ordered this exam?

CTA does not carry the invasiveness or recovery time associated with cardiac catheterization. CTA can be valuable in assessing and monitoring stents and surgical repairs. It also helps your physician rule out a diagnosis of coronary artery disease; your physician may use CTA to evaluate such conditions as:

  • Aneurysm
  • Atherosclerosis
  • Dissection
  • Stenosis
