The Baptist Clinical Research Center, started in 1989, is a hospital-based research center of Baptist Memorial Health Care that conducts patient studies called clinical trials (research protocols) to help develop leading-edge medical care for patients. These trials often progress through several phases to prove treatment and medication effectiveness and safety before being approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The BCRC is funded in part by the Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation, as well as organizations initiating trials.
Baptist investigators and staff who wish to conduct research studies may utilize the services and resources of the BCRC. A number of investigators are currently participating in multiple clinical trials with BCRC. The experience of the BCRC study management team combined with a strong vision for the future and dedicated investigators help ensure an effective trial process. This unique arrangement is an asset to a diverse population of more than one million residents spread across the tri-state area.
