We think you're a good investment in our future. Baptist Memorial Health Care is offering educational grants that cover paid tuition for students entering nursing and allied health programs (see related news release). Upon graduation, students will receive an employment opportunity with Baptist, including excellent pay and employee benefits. These educational assistance grants are open to nursing and allied health students and Baptist employees and employees' family members will receive additional consideration. Baptist is targeting students enrolled in programs for priority areas of need in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee. Selection criteria include:
Qualified applicants must already be accepted to begin an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program at a participating college. After the applications are submitted, selected candidates are chosen for an interviewing process to determine grant awardees. Under the Baptist grant program, those awarded grants must attend school full time with their internship work limited to Baptist. They must maintain good academic standing and graduate and obtain licensure. Baptist will then pay basic tuition costs at the in-state rate. The applicant must then work for Baptist for 12 months for every year of academic support in a 72-hour-or-greater biweekly position. This program – an extension of a program started at the Baptist College of Health Sciences in 2002 – is part of Baptist's efforts to attract workers to the health care field. Other strategies include competitive salaries, flexible schedules and partnerships with local colleges and universities.
