Support Groups & Counseling Services

Baptist Memphis, Baptist Rehab-Germantown, Women's Health Center, Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief, and Baptist North Mississippi all offer counseling and other support services for those coping with major life changes such as memory loss, grief, or expected injury and illness.

Alzheimer's

Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group

Available at: Baptist Memphis

The Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group is a monthly support group meeting for caregivers. The goal is to empower them by providing emotional support and education. Trained volunteers facilitate the meetings. Network meetings encourage members to share information, exchange coping skills and form support systems for themselves and their family. Family members are educated about self-care and community resources as well as how to care for their family member with Alzheimer's disease.

Bariatric Surgery

Bariatric Support Group

Available at: Baptist North Mississippi

The Bariatric Support Group helps meet the challenges adjusting to life post operatively with the commitment of ongoing education and support. Talking to a professional about your previous struggles with obesity and your current struggles with your new post-surgery lifestyle can help you understand more about yourself, and help you stay focused on your goals. You may also find that being involved in support groups with other people who have experienced similar struggles can be extremely helpful and help you stay motivated. We highly encourage everyone to attend support group meetings after their surgery. If you are unable to attend the meetings, try to find a group that you can get together with to support each other. Bariatric Support Group meets at 6pm on the first Tuesday of each month in the Cafeteria Conference Room at Baptist North Mississippi-North Mississippi. Cancer

Breast Cancer Survivor Network

Available at: Baptst Cancer Center

The Breast Cancer Survivor Network meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at Noon. This is a potluck meal with the Baptist Foundation providing the main item.

Evening meetings are held on the the 1st Tuesday of each month at 5:30 where light refreshments are provided.

Sassy Sparrows Breast Cancer Survivor Group

Sassy Sparrows provides a light lunch and support for breast cancer survivors and those who have lost loved ones to Breast Cancer. Renewal With Hope Cancer Nutrition Group

Available at: Baptist North Mississippi

Renewal with Hope provides information for cancer patients, family members and caregivers on the necessity of good nutrition during and after cancer treatment. Grief and Bereavement

Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief

The Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief is a comprehensive bereavement center located adjacent to the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House at Baptist Collierville. Its mission is to provide a safe environment for children, teens, and adults to explore and express their feelings related to the death of a loved one and learn to thrive in a world without that special person.

Services include grief counseling, grief support groups and grief camp programs for children, teens and adults — all free of charge.

Never Ending Circle Grief Support Group

The Never Ending Circle Grief Support Group meets at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month in the Magnolia Rooms at Baptist North Mississippi-North Mississippi. Heart Services

Mended Hearts Support Group

Mended Hearts, Inc. is a nationwide support organization for individuals with heart disease, including persons recovering from heart attacks, angioplasty or open heart surgery. The support group meets every 2nd Wednesday of each month at Noon in the Cafeteria Conference Room at Baptist North Mississippi-North Mississippi. Mental Illness

NAMI Connection Support Group

NAMI Connection is a weekly recovery support group for people living with mental illness in which people learn from each other's experiences, share coping strategies, and offer each other encouragement and understanding. MS Self-Help Support Group

The Multiple Sclerosis Support Group meets regularly for educational and social purposes, allowing members to express feelings and to provide support to one another. Members share a belief that positive personal change can happen through individual effort with the support of others. The Stroke Club
