Baptist Union County Recognized for Excellence in Physician Engagement

NEW ALBANY, MISS. - Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County was one of only 13 recipients recently presented with the Guardian of Excellence Award for physician engagement from Press Ganey.

Edge is one of four new Board members elected by worldwide members of ASCO. ASCO's Board of Directors is comprised of oncology leaders who are elected to positions reflecting various specialties within the oncology field.

The award honors clients who have reached the 95th percentile for physician engagement and is awarded annually to clients who sustain performance in the top five percent for each reporting period for the year. Out of 288 Guardian of Excellence Award winners for 2014, only 13 of those were recognized for physician engagement.

Walter Grace, CEO and administrator of Baptist Union County said, "Effectively engaging physicians is key to providing patient-centered care and helping facilitate optimal outcomes. Earning this recognition is a testimony to our staff’s ability to successfully work with physicians."

The physician engagement award is reserved for clients who have achieved the 95th percentile or higher on overall mean score on Physician Partner, engagement or alignment within the Physician Engagement category for the most recent survey period for projects completed during the award year (May–April). Clients must have a minimum of 30 completed surveys per year and received a 50 percent or higher response rate during the specified timeframe.
