Baptist Medical Group opens Midtown Primary Care Clinic

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Baptist Medical Group, Baptist Memorial Health Care's multispecialty physician group, announced the opening of the newest Primary Care, located at 1520 Union Ave., giving the group another major presence in midtown Memphis. The clinic also accepts walk-in patients.

"We are proud to be able to transform the former Midtown Post Office into our primary care concept clinic to provide convenience and connectivity in a patient-friendly environment," said Jim Boswell, CEO of Baptist Medical Group and vice president of physician services for Baptist Memorial Health Care. "This new location will be an important link to the community as part of our overall medical home team within Baptist Medical Group. We see this initiative as an advancement of our strategy to make health care more accessible and affordable for the communities we serve."

BMG is developing a system of easy access clinics for primary care patients within the metro market. These plans range from primary care/walk-in clinics, BMG Minor Meds, as well as traditional primary care practices. Walk-in clinics play an important role in care delivery and patient experience. Patients receive the most value when care is well coordinated with primary care providers and the entire continuum of care. The days and hours of operation for the walk in clinic will be as follows: 7 days per week: 8A – 7P; Saturday 8A – 12P; Sunday 1P – 5P.

Studies by the American Medical Association have shown that Shelby County is underserved in primary care providers. The newly renovated 11,470-square-foot building will be one of the largest BMG clinic locations and will offer immediate access up to nine physicians and nurse practitioners. Taking the lead at this new location will be long-time physicians Dr. Freddie Everson and Dr. Jay Patchen, formerly with BMG-Memphis Primary Care Associates.

"Our goal is to offer preventative and wellness care to keep our community healthier before chronic conditions become life-threatening," said Everson.

"We are looking forward to adding new patients, answering their questions and offering a walk-in clinic to meet patients immediate care needs seven days a week," added Patchen.
