Baptist Tipton to Hold Free Childbirth and Breastfeeding Classes

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton will host a twice-monthly child birthing class hosted by the Baptist Tipton labor and delivery department beginning Feb. 2. The hospital will also host a weekly breastfeeding class for new mothers, which is facilitated by Sarah Crawford, a registered nurse.

“The birth of your baby is one of the most exciting and life-changing events of your life,” said Cathy Simonton, child birth class instructor. “Along with excitement, you may feel stress and anxiety. We are here to help you make this special time as positive and rewarding as possible.”

The child birthing class will held the second and fourth Saturday of every month from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. The breastfeeding class will be held every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Both classes will be located at the Baptist Tipton community classroom.

Baptist Tipton, located in Covington, Tenn., is a 100-bed acute care facility that includes a surgery department, outpatient rehabilitation, a sleep disorders lab, radiology services, as well as a 24-hour emergency room. The hospital also features an advanced infant security system.
