Baptist North Mississippi to participate in national public service campaign

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi, along with Baptist-DeSoto and Baptist Golden Triangle, is participating in a national public service campaign sponsored by the American Heart Association to encourage the use of 9-1-1 for possible cardiac-related emergencies.

According to the AHA, patients potentially suffering from cardiac emergencies can greatly benefit from the initial diagnosis and treatment of cardiac distress by emergency medical services, provided by calling 9-1-1.

“An AHA survey shows that Mississippi ranks lowest in use of EMS services,” said Sherri DeLashmit, director the Heart Care Center at Baptist North Mississippi. “We encourage cardiac or stroke patients to call 9-1-1 instead of driving themselves to the hospital.”

Baptist North Mississippi is a 217-bed hospital that offers a variety of services, including cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, the Baptist Centers for Cancer Care and a 24-hour emergency room. Since the hospital became affiliated with Baptist Memorial Health Care in 1989, Baptist has invested more than $140 million into the facility.
