Baptist Memphis and Baptist Women’s Recognized Nationally as Top Performing

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis and Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women were given the Premier QUEST Award for High Value Healthcare Honorable Mention award.

The honorable mentions awards were presented to those hospitals that achieved top performance in the original three QUEST measures: cost, evidence-based care, and mortality.

QUEST is a three-year program that invites hospitals across the nation to develop and share best practices for improving performance in quality, safety and efficiency. The five areas of measurement include mortality ratio, appropriate care, efficiency, harm avoidance and patient experience.

"We are so pleased that our facility was recognized once again for implementing QUEST's top measures," said Derick Ziegler, administrator and CEO of Baptist Memphis. "Most importantly, we have put in place a plan to sustain our gains while we continue to look for other ways to further enhance patient care."

Anita Vaughn, CEO and administrator of Baptist Women's Hospital said, This honor is a testament to the hard work of our staff, who are committed to raising the bar and providing patients with top-notch care. However, quality is a constant process, and we are always looking for ways to enhance care.

The Baptist Memphis campus includes the 706-bed hospital that is the flagship of the Baptist Memorial Health Care system. It serves as a major referral center for patients from across the Mid-South and offers many diagnostic, surgical and rehabilitation services. The hospital has added hundreds of beds in the past few years, with the opening of a new patient tower and the Baptist Heart Institute. Consumers have rated Baptist Memphis their most preferred hospital for overall health care services in an independent National Research Corp. poll for the past 15 years in a row, and according to HealthGrades®, Baptist Memphis ranks in the top 5 percent nationally for cardiac surgery and in the top 10 percent in the nation for overall cardiac services, stroke treatment, pulmonary services, prostatectomy, GI medical treatment and critical care.
