Baptist Union County to Open Expanded Nursery, Hospital Invested $200,000 in Renovation Project

NEW ALBANY, Miss. - Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County is opening an expanded nursery on May 17.

The additional 3,000 square feet will enhance the care and treatment of the newborns by giving hospital staff a better view of the babies and providing additional work space and physician diction stations. About 10 to 20 babies a day spend time in the nursery.

"We are excited to bring the larger space and new equipment to the new mothers and infants of our community," said James Huffman, CEO and administrator of Baptist Union County. "We will be able to treat patients even more efficiently."

Baptist Union County is a 153-bed hospital that offers a variety of health care services, including labor and delivery, outpatient and laser surgery, digital mammography equipment and a 24-hour emergency room, which sees approximately 19,000 patients annually. In 2008, the hospital renovated its Women's Center, which features ten labor/delivery/recovery suites, two surgical suites for Caesarean sections, a level I nursery for sick babies and a 28-bed postpartum unit. For more information about Baptist Union County, please call 662-538-7631 or visit unioncounty.baptistonline.org.
