Baptist Memorial Health Care Welcomes New Vice President, Baptist Memphis Administrator

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Aug. 18, 2010- Zach Chandler and Derick Ziegler recently began new jobs at Baptist Memorial Health Care. Chandler became vice president and regional market leader and Ziegler succeeded Chandler as CEO and administrator of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis.

"We are so excited about having these individuals in exciting new leadership roles," said David Hogan, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Baptist. "Both have proven track records of leadership and integrity and are committed to the continued success of our organization."

Chandler joined Baptist Memphis in September 2009 as the administrator and CEO after spending two years as the president of Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas. Before that, Chandler spent 10 years with Baptist in a variety of positions, including CEO and administrator of three Baptist hospitals. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and a master's degree in health administration from Washington University in St. Louis.

Ziegler spent 23 years in health care administration for the United States Army before coming to Baptist. Most recently, he served as deputy commander for administration--a position equivalent to chief operating officer--of Tripler Army Medical Center, a 1,000-bed hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. Ziegler earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology and sociology from the University of Pittsburgh. He received a master's degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's degree in health care administration from Baylor University. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and holds a number of other professional distinctions.
