Baptist Golden Triangle Receives Best Practices Award

COLUMBUS, Miss. - Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle has been recognized by East Mississippi Community College's Workforce Services for its workforce training, quality management and business practices.

The hospital was presented EMCC's Workforce Services Best Practices Award at the college's annual industry appreciation luncheon.

Baptist Golden Triangle is among several area businesses and industries who partner with EMCC's Workforce Services to help meet its workforce training needs. Training can be tailored to the employee's needs and provided at the EMCC campus, or the business or industry can identify subject area experts in-house to train onsite.

Workforce Services uses a state grant to financially support the program, according to Lauri Sansing, Baptist Golden Triangle's director of education. The hospital uses experts in a variety of medical-related fields to train employees on site, allowing them to expand their knowledge while staying on the job.

"The medical field is constantly changing, and we have to adapt to advances in technology, medications and patient care. Our staff must stay prepared for any medical situation," said Sansing.

Baptist is currently training its staff on an extensive new electronic documentation and medication system which will greatly enhance quality of care.

"Thanks to the grant, we are able to provide a variety of educational opportunities for our healthcare team," Sansing added.

With 328 beds, Baptist Golden Triangle is the largest regional hospital affiliated with the Memphis, Tenn.-based Baptist Memorial Health Care system. With physicians and surgeons representing almost every medical specialty practicing at the hospital, Baptist Golden Triangle offers a wide range of comprehensive medical care to patients of all ages. The hospital also offers a variety of services to the community, including the Baptist Centers for Cancer Care, hospice for the terminally ill, Baptist Behavioral Health Care-Willowbrook for those with behavioral and mental health problems, an emergency room with 24-hour ambulance service, an extensive rehabilitation department, and educational programs.
