Baptist DeSoto Holds Free Stroke Symposium

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto is hosting its second annual Surviving and Thriving a Stroke symposium on Saturday, May 15, from 8 a.m. until noon.

The symposium will be held in the hospital's DeSoto rooms, and healthy breakfast and snack items will be served. Former patients, caregivers and health care professionals, as well as the general public are welcome to attend.

"Through this free stroke symposium, we'll be able to share information on a variety of stroke-related topics," said Andrea Spencer, manager of rehabilitation therapies at Baptist DeSoto.  "Discussions on everything from life after a stroke and assistive technology resources to stroke management from a medical standpoint and the benefits of exercising after a stroke will all be covered. We're excited for the opportunity to provide resources to the community on such an important health issue."

The event is free, but reservations are required. To register for Surviving and Thriving a Stroke or to find out more details, please call 662-772-2150.
