Baptist Corporate Communications Colleagues Take on New Leadership Roles

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Baptist Memorial Health Care-s corporate communications department recently promoted three colleagues to manager or director positions.

Ayoka Pond has been named director of public relations and internal communications, Cynthia Allen has been promoted to community involvement manager, and Jennifer Massey is now manager of creative services.

Pond earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 1997 and a master's degree in communications from the University of Memphis in 2000. She began her career with Baptist as an intern and has served as a public relations specialist, coordinator and manager. As public relations and internal communications director she will be responsible for the strategy, direction and coordination of all external media relations and all internal communication initiatives.

Allen earned a bachelor's degree in business from Christian Brothers University and joined Baptist in 2004. She served as system community involvement and special events senior coordinator before being named manager.

As manager, she will identify, develop and implement strategic community outreach contributions opportunities that are aligned with Baptist's corporate giving focus areas and guidelines.

Massey earned a bachelor's degree in graphic design from the University of Mississippi and a bachelor's degree in education from Delta State University. Because of her expertise in advertising, marketing, branding, concept development, creative design, and asset management, she will oversee all aspects of the creative services division. Massey will ensure the quality and consistency of graphic arts production and services.

"Each of these professionals contributes an extensive amount of knowledge and leadership to our department," said Kimmie McNeil Vaulx, system director of corporate communications. "I am proud to have each of them as part of the department's management team and look forward to working with them in their new roles."
