Baptist Memorial Health Care Named Among Top 100 health Networks

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Baptist Memorial Health Care was named among the nation's top integrated health care networks in a recent survey published by Modern Healthcare and conducted by SDI, a health care data and consulting firm based in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.

Baptist ranked 15th nationally in the 2010 SDI IHN 100--a nationwide study of nearly 600 integrated health care networks, which includes some of the most well-known health care systems in the country. The study also breaks out the top 10 hospitals by region, and Baptist was ranked fifth in the South.

"We are proud to be included in this list again this year, said Stephen C. Reynolds," president and CEO of Baptist Memorial Health Care. "This ranking confirms that our employees and physicians are delivering high-quality care intelligently and efficiently."

To create the list, SDI, evaluates each network's ability to operate as a unified organization in eight categories: integration, integrated technology, contractual capabilities, outpatient utilization, financial stability, services and access, hospital utilization and physicians. This marks the 12th year Baptist has been included in the top 100.

One of the largest not-for-profit health care systems in the United States, Baptist Memorial Health Care offers a full continuum of care to communities throughout the Mid-South. The Baptist system comprises 15 hospitals in West Tennessee, North Mississippi and East Arkansas; more than 3,100 affiliated physicians; home, hospice and psychiatric care; minor medical centers and clinics; a network of surgery, rehabilitation and other outpatient centers; and an education system highlighted by the Baptist College of Health Sciences. Baptist has more than 2,600 licensed beds systemwide, employs more than 12,000 people and has approximately 85,000 admissions annually. In fiscal year 2009, Baptist provided $541 million in community benefit to the Mid-South.
