NEA Baptist Rehabilitation Services

NEA Baptist is a multispecialty provider of physical, occupational and speech therapy services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. We specialize in treating patients who have suffered or are suffering from a stroke, work injury, sports injury, arthritis pain, or other injury to return to daily activities and the demand of work.

We also specialize in the treatment of orthopedic and sports related conditions, impairments related to neurologic disease or injury, and secondary complications associated with cancer.

The highly skilled and knowledgeable staff makes a constant effort to stay on the cutting edge of treatment, research and field development by attending special educational training courses on new techniques.

Traditional methods of exercise and stretching are combined with advanced technology to provide a superior quality of therapy.

Physical Therapy

Our physical therapy staff see patients through hospital based therapy, our Inpatient Rehab Center and/or our four convenient outpatient clinics. Physical therapy helps our patients reduce pain and improve mobility. PTs will evaluate each patient and develop an individualized plan of care.

Physical therapy will address impairments caused by decreased mobility of joints, declines in strength, neurological disorders including impairments in coordination and balance as well as dysfunction cause by dizziness or vertigo. They will provide care after stroke, joint replacement surgery, decline in function caused by dementia or Parkinson's and many other illnesses or injuries.

Conditions we treat include:

  • Back, neck and spine injuries
  • Shoulder, hip, knee, ankle and foot injuries
  • Musculoskeletal disorders
  • Total joint replacements
  • Sports injuries
  • Stroke
  • Post-surgical interventions
  • Arthritis
  • Post traumatic injury
  • Conditions which limit function
  • Orthopedic rehabilitation
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Nerve injury
  • Neuromuscular conditions
  • Osteoporosis
  • Vestibular rehab

Your personalized physical therapy treatment will begin with a comprehensive evaluation of the musculoskeletal system by one of our licensed physical therapist. A treatment plan with goals will then be implemented by our team of health care professionals. Your team may include your physicians, physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapy staff (OTs) provide care to our patients through hospital-based therapy services, our Inpatient Rehab Center, and through our outpatient rehab clinic located at 4800 E. Johnson in Jonesboro.

The focus of occupational therapy is on addressing impairments in functional activities. These functional activities include activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding as well as other functional tasks related to work, care of others, management of the home and leisure activities.

OTs commonly treat upper extremity orthopedic impairments caused by fractures, tendon repairs, and joint replacement. Common diagnosed conditions we treat include: arthritis, burns, Carpal Tunnel syndrome, dislocations, fractures, nerve injuries, tendon injuries, tendonitis, trauma of bones or joints, stroke, shoulder replacements, rotator cuff repairs, adhesive capsulitis, brain injury, dementia, Parkinson's disease and others. OTs provide care as part of the rehabilitation team with emphasis on treating the total body and returning you to those roles and routines that are most important.

Speech Therapy

Our speech-language pathologists (SLPs) provide hospital based therapy and outpatient care for individuals with disorders of swallowing, speech, language, and communication caused by a variety of medical diagnosis. SLPs perform evaluations and treatments that are client-centered and evidence based to obtain the goals that are most important to our patients. Using an interdisciplinary approach with our other therapists, SLPs are part of the comprehensive therapy team that will strive to return you to independence. Common medical conditions that are treated include: stroke, brain injury, dementia, Parkinson's disease, vocal cord paralysis, pulmonary disease, complications that arise from radiation and surgeries as well as others.

Hospital Based Therapy

While patients are admitted to our hospital, there may be a need for them to receive an evaluation and/or treatment by a physical therapist, speech therapist and/or occupational therapist. These services can be conducted during an inpatient hospital stay. Once a patient is discharged from the hospital they may either be admitted to our inpatient rehab unit or referred to one of our outpatient rehab clinics for further treatment.

Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab

Cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services are offered to patients who have experienced a heart attack or have undergone a major heart surgery through the NEA Baptist Heart Center. View more information here or call the Heart Center at 870-936-1000.
