Am I a candidate for weight-loss surgery?
To be a candidate for weight-loss or bariatric surgery, a patient must meet one or more of the following parameters Use our adult BMI calculator (right) to find out your BMI.
- More than 100 pounds over your ideal body weight
- Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or higher
- Have a BMI of 35 or higher and are experiences severe negative health effects related to being severely overweight such as high blood pressure or diabetes
- Are unable to achieve a healthy body weight for a sustained period of time, even with medically supervised dieting
How do I learn more about my surgical weight-loss options?

What about non-surgical weight-loss options?
Bariatric surgery is not the only way to lose weight. Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women offers the Weigh 2 Go program.
