Memphis, Tenn., Aug. 10, 2009 – The Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation will host its annual Art of Caring benefit to support the Baptist Trinity Hospice House and the Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Chickasaw Oaks Village, 3086 Poplar Ave.
The reception and silent art auction, hosted by Perry Nicole Fine Art and curated by Jana Travis, will feature original work specially created for this year’s event. The event will highlight “Memphis Masters” artist Elizabeth Alley, as well as local artists. Artwork will be featured throughout Chickasaw Oaks Village.
This year, Baptist is partnering with the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art to help promote Art of Caring and the Brooks fundraising event, “Avant-Garde Party 2009”, as a “Night of Art.”
The two events take place the same evening but at different times. Those who purchase tickets to the Brooks Museum event, which takes place later that evening at the museum, will receive complimentary tickets to the Art of Caring.
Proceeds from Art of Caring will support the construction and upkeep of the Baptist Trinity Hospice House, a 24-bed residential hospice already under construction on the campus of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville. The first of its kind in the area, the hospice house is slated to open in the spring of 2010.
Proceeds will also benefit the Baptist Trinity Center for Good Grief, which will move from its current location to the Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief, a new facility that will be built adjacent to the hospice house. All services now available at the Baptist Trinity Center for Good Grief will move to the Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief. The center provides comprehensive and free bereavement services to families in the Mid-South area and grief camp programs for children, teens and adults.
The event is open to the community, and tickets are $15 per person.
