Memphis, Tenn., July 10, 2009 - Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville and the Desoto Athletic Club, which is located within the Cox Community Center at 440 West Poplar, will host a running clinic on Saturday, July 18, at 9 a.m. in classroom 1 at the community center.
The clinic “Getting on the Road to Fitness and Staying There” is designed to teach proper running technique and help participants prevent injury. The clinic is open to a wide range of participants—from those beginning a running program to the advanced runner. Children under age 13 must be accompanied by a parent. There is no charge for participants but donations to Team LIVESTRONG The Lance Armstrong Foundation will be accepted.
Monica Baker, physical therapist and certified athletic trainer from Baptist Collierville and Mark Higginbotham, certified running coach and founder of Memphis in Motion will facilitate the seminar. The group will be divided up by beginners, intermediate and advanced runners.
Baker will give an overview of the Lance Armstrong Foundation and participants will also learn how to get additional help through personal training and classes offered at the DAC.
