Memphis, Tenn., July 8, 2005 – Baptist Memorial Health Care is partnering with local health care organizations to sponsor a community health fair for all ages on Saturday, July 16, 2005, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hamilton Elementary School, 1378 Ethlyn Ave., in Memphis.
Free health screenings will be available, including those for glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, prostate cancer, vision, dental, asthma and body mass index. In addition, pre-kindergarten physicals and immunizations (with shot records) will be offered by other participating health organizations. Health care professionals also will be on hand to discuss a wide variety of health topics, including exercise, heart health, stroke prevention, women's and men’s health, cancer prevention and diabetes.
Door prizes and free refreshments will be provided. Other participating organizations include the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, Christ Community Health Services, Kroger, Memphis Medical Society, Memphis and Shelby County Health Departments, Mid-South Transplant Foundation, National Healthcare Facility, Omega Ministries/Omega Healthy Practices, Southern College of Optometry, TLC Managed Care, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, University of Tennessee Dental School and University of Tennessee Preventive Medicine.
