Memphis, Tenn., July 16, 2003 - Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women, located at 6225 Humphreys Blvd., will offer free community seminars in the hospital’s educational classrooms during the month of July and August.

The seminars are part of the Dr. Sam P. Patterson Library Seminar Series, which addresses health and wellness issues from stress to reducing the risk of heart disease. Reservations are required and can be made 24 hours a day by calling (800) 4-BAPTIST or (901) 227-8478.

“The Risk of Falls”
Tuesday, July 22, 1-2 p.m.
Lana Parker, vestibular/balance physical therapist, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis
This seminar will help anyone who is at risk for falls, including those with dizziness or poor muscle strength, and family members of high-risk individuals. During the seminar, the facilitator will review falls risk assessments, current treatment options and advanced technology in balance rehabilitation, the BalanceMaster.

“Osteoarthritis—Painful Bones and Joints”
Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1-2:30 p.m.

Participants will learn about the different types of arthritis, the causes of degenerative joint diseases and treatment options, including physical therapy, injections and surgery.

“Hand and Foot Massages for Couples”
Tuesday, Aug. 19, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

A massage therapist will teach couples how to help relieve daily stress and nurture their relationships using hand and foot massage techniques.
