The Heart Institute will also house the Ford-Goltman Clinical Research Center, an in-patient facility that will allow researchers to conduct more types of clinical research trials. The center, which was made possible by Milton and Jeanne Ford, is in honor of their two sons, Michael and Jeffrey, who both died of heart disease and Dr. and Mrs. Alfred M. Goltman, Jeanne Ford's parents. Clinical researchers at Baptist track the safety and long-term success of medications, devices and procedures. The Baptist Clinical Research Center also has extensive contacts with companies that develop the newest medications and devices, so staff can continue to offer patients the most up-to-date advances available.
