Eat right - eat light

Here are a few quick reminders to help you stay on track when eating healthfully!

  • Choose leaner meats/smaller portions.
  • Choose low-fat dairy products.
  • Eat more fruits, vegetables and grains. Eight servings a day is ideal, but five is great for a start.
  • Reduce total fat in diet to no more than 30 percent of calories per day.
  • Choose healthier cooking methods.
  • Carefully read food labels to assess sugar content AND fat content AND calorie count.
  • Maintain a desirable weight.
  • Exercise at least thirty minutes three times a week to start and slowly build up to 30 minutes five times a week.
  • Make gradual changes in your diet and you will be more likely to stick with healthful eating habits.
