Next Step Community Involvement

In order to integrate skills learned in therapy with real world experiences, outings into the community for activities and shopping are a regular part of the Next Step program. In addition to mobility skills, patients work on planning, organizing, pacing, problem solving and a host of other cognitive and behavioral skills.

Baptist is actively engaged in community health initiatives. Baptist Rehabilitation-Germantown provides educational information for individuals identified as high risk for stroke or brain injury.

Brain Injury Prevention

Even mild concussions have the potential to cause serious impairments in the brain and can interfere with one's ability to return to school, perform routine work duties, or engage with family and friends. If you have suffered a blow to the head in any way and are experiencing some of the symptoms listed on the back, you should seek medical attention.

Ways to Prevent Brain Injuries

  • Use correct child safety seats
  • Always wear your seat belt!
  • Wear a helmet when biking, horse-back riding, or in sporting activities
