Next Step: Intensive Outpatient Rehab
Intensive programs for patients recovering from neurological injuries or joint replacements.
The Next Step program at Baptist Rehabilitation-Germantown was designed to give Memphis-area patients an important rehab option—an inpatient level of intensity in an outpatient setting. Physical, occupational and speech therapies team up with nursing supervision and recreational therapies to plan individual treatment plans for each client. This highly specialized team works daily with each patient to help them achieve their goals.
In the Next Step program, you receive the same kind of intensive rehab you would as an inpatient, with the goal of reaching a level of independence where you can more fully participate in the activities that are important to you. Typically patients come three to five days a week for three to five hours a day, then return to their home care setting at night.
How Long Do the Next Step Programs Last?
On average, people attend Next Step for about four weeks, 3-5 days per week for 3-5 hours per day.
What Should I Expect to Achieve?
Ultimate goals vary according to the individual, but in general, Next Step strives to achieve the following:
- Less dependence on others for care and decision making
- Ability to manage own care
- Participation in life to the extent you desire
- Successful return to work or school
- Knowledge and skills to maintain the gains made in the program
