Amputation Program Outcomes
The amputee Function Independence Measure (FIM) change (how a patient functional scores, change from admission to discharge) at Baptist Rehabilitation-Germantown is 22.3, on track with the regional and national averages.
- 76% of amputee inpatients were discharged to the community after an average 12 day stay. Patients, who continued therapy after discharge, benefit from our outpatient center for follow up therapy.
- Patients who have had an amputation routinely receive a minimum of three hours of physical, occupational and speech therapies per day before discharge from inpatient rehabilitation. Less than 3% required an acute care hospitalization after admission to rehabilitation.
Baptist Rehabilitation Germantown offers a multidisciplinary outpatient amputee clinic twice month for assessment and ongoing follow up for patients needs. This clinic is staffed by a psychiatrist, therapy prosthetic and wound care nurse to address a full array of nay needs in one convenient location.
