Billie Eakes Named Service First Champion
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City is pleased to announce Billie Eakes is its Service First Champion for the first quarter fiscal year 2007. Selected from more than 400 colleagues, Billie exemplifies customer service and upholds Baptist Memorial Health Care’s mission of preaching, teaching and healing.
A fellow colleague remembers Billie and her Service First work ethic in action:
“We had a 6-year-old burn victim in the ER. He was badly burned and was being airlifted to Vanderbilt for treatment. Billie did a great job talking to the little boy, calming his fears and working through some "family dynamics" that were difficult, to say the least. As the helicopter crew was getting all the information they required, the only cell phone available to the family that would allow the crew to communicate with the mom was running out of power and they had no battery charger in the car. Billie saw the need, realized her cell phone was the same model, took her fully charged battery out of her phone and swapped with the mother of the child, enabling them to communicate with the flight crew and on-the-ground medical personnel as the family made the three-hour drive to Nashville. For Billie, this was a natural reaction to an unmet need.”
Billie is a registered nurse who began working for Baptist Union City in 1996.
