Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City is committed to providing high-quality health care to our patients and to being a key contributor to our community’s overall well-being. As a not-for-profit hospital, this is our mission. We strive to live this mission each day through the care we provide and by fostering community partnerships, embracing the spirit of volunteerism and providing support for various community initiatives. This report presents just a few highlights of our many community benefit initiatives in 2004.
Baptist Union City colleagues have demonstrated their commitment by volunteering and supporting several organizations and events in 2004, including the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Chimes for Charity, Dyer County Chamber of Commerce, Head Start, Lifeline Blood Services, Main Street Union City Inc., March of Dimes, National Fire Safety Council, Obion County Cancer Agency, Obion County Public Library, Obion County School System, Obion County Youth Leadership, South Fulton School System, Union City School System, Obion County Chamber of Commerce, Obion County Fall Fest Inc. and Obion County Industrial Development Corp.
Baptist Union City also has strong affiliations with various educational institutions in communities across our region, supporting their nursing and allied health degree programs in various ways.
In 2004, Baptist Union City was a corporate sponsor for the Fourth Annual Hometown Walk of Hope, contributing more than $8,500 to the event that benefits the Obion County Cancer Agency, an organization that assists cancer patients with financial needs. In addition, the hospital donated more than $5,000 to the Obion County Industrial Development Corp., which promotes retention and expansion of industries. The hospital also provided $500 to the new Obion County Public Library and $2,000 to co-sponsor the Airport Extravaganza as part of the Fall Fest activities.
Baptist Union City colleagues collected gifts for more than 100 children who participate in local Head Start programs, as well as donating toys to Chimes for Charity.
Additionally, the hospital's Food & Nutrition Services department donated approximately $1,000 worth of food to Chimes for Charity.
