 Modern Healthcare Magazine included Baptist Union City in its “Best Places to Work 2010” list. To be named to the list, hospital employees had to complete an in-depth survey, which was evaluated based on eight core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall satisfaction.
In 2005 and 2006, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City was ranked among the nation’s top 200 hospitals for its billing accuracy in the “Top 200 Coding Hospitals in the U.S.” report conducted by Ingenix, a leading health information company.
In 2006, the Tennessee Hospital Association’s Center for Health Workforce Development honored Baptist Union City’s Nurse Camp with its Workforce Leadership Award. Nurse Camp is a program that gives high school students the opportunity to observe nurses in action and to recruit future nurses. During camp, Baptist Union City staff nurses instruct students, who spend time in various departments, including the emergency department, medical-surgical unit and critical care.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City recently received a 2008 VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence in pneumonia care. The VHA Leadership Award honors organizations that have achieved national performance standards in specific clinical categories. Baptist Union City earned its award because the hospital is ranked in the top 10 percent in the nation for pneumonia care according to data from the Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.
Baptist Union City received VHA Inc.’s 2006 and 2007 Leadership Award for clinical excellence in cardiac care. The hospital was one of 86 VHA member hospitals nationwide to receive the award, which honors organizations that have differentiated themselves around national performance standards by achieving performance at the 90 percent or above level on clinical care measures.
In 2005, Baptist Union City was named a recipient of a Gallup Award for Healthcare Excellence for achieving and maintaining patient satisfaction in its inpatient nursing units.
