Baptist North Mississippi makes new additions made to Community Advisory Board

Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi recently added Capt. Bill Ketchum and Bettie Puckett to the hospital’s community advisory board.

Ketchum, a navy pilot, served 31 years of active duty with the Navy, fulfilling operational and command assignments around the world. He retired in 1986 after his last military assignment as professor of Naval Science at the University of Mississippi. Ketchum holds a master’s degree in operational management from the University of Arkansas. He and his wife, Janice, are members of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Puckett is the executive director of Equal Opportunity and Student Disability Services/Americans with Disabilities Act coordinator at the University of Mississippi. She holds a master of arts degree in higher educational leadership and is pursing a doctoral degree at the University of Mississippi. Puckett is a member of the Mayor’s Disability Awareness committee and is a member of the board for Living Independence for Everyone. She serves as district director of the Exchange Clubs of Mississippi and is a board member of the Oxford Exchange Club. Puckett is also a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

“I am honored and pleased to welcome these two distinguished community members to our community advisory board,” said Zach Chandler, administrator and CEO of Baptist North Mississippi. “Our board does a wonderful job of keeping us aware of what’s going on in our community, and I know Capt. Bill Ketchum and Bettie Puckett will be valuable additions.”

Baptist North Mississippi’s CAB members include: Tim Phillips, chair; Sherwin Haynie; Max Hipp; Purves McLaurin, M.D.; Sylvester Moorhead, Ph.D.; Mary Sharp Rayner; and Thomas Wallace, Ph.D.



Nephrologist joins medical staff at Baptist North Mississippi

Baptist Memorial Hospital- North Mississippi is pleased to welcome new nephrologist Morris Hamilton, M.D., to its medical staff. Hamilton recently joined Drs. Thomas Wooldrigde, Martin Lee, Gregory Hale, Tzonko Milev, Kenneth Kellum and Jonathan Massey of Nephrology and Hypertension Associates.

A native of Gulfport, Miss., Hamilton received his undergraduate degree from Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss. He earned a medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine at Miriam Hospital at Brown University in Providence, R.I. He completed a fellowship in nephrology at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

Hamilton is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Before coming to Baptist North Mississippi, he was in private practice in Gulfport.
