Health Tip
Pizza can be a nutritious fast food because it contains three of more of the food groups. The actual nutrient content depends upon what you put on top. For a healthier pizza, choose a whole-wheat crust and choose lean toppings: lean ham, Canadian bacon, shrimp, vegetables, and low-fat cheeses.
Daily Bread
A heart at peace gives life to the body. Proverbs 14:30

Baptist Celebrates 15 Years in Oxford
Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi is celebrating its 15-year anniversary this year.
Since Baptist Memorial Health Care leased the Oxford-Lafayette Medical Center in 1989, Baptist has invested more than $140 million in the hospital, making purchases and improvements to the facility. The result of that investment is the addition of specialties ranging from open-heart surgery to radiation oncology. Baptist North Mississippi has nearly tripled its medical staff, with seven new physicians joining this year alone. Also, according to a professor of economics and head of the Center for Business and Economic Research, Baptist North Mississippi has an annual economic impact of $37.5 million on the local community.
“Baptist North Mississippi’s success has been a real team effort,” said Zach Chandler, administrator and CEO of Baptist North Mississippi. “Our physicians and employees have worked hard to make our hospital what it is today.”
Once a community hospital whose patients mostly lived in Lafayette County, Baptist North Mississippi has transformed into a regional referral center, serving a 14-county area. Today, Lafayette County residents account for 30 percent of the hospital’s patients, compared with 70 percent 15 years ago.
