Dear Friends:
Zach Chandler Administrator and CEO, Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi | |
Over the past few years, Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi has seen tremendous growth and change, and we are proud to be an integral part of this community. Through the care we provide to patients each day, as well as the many activities and programs we conduct to enhance the health of our community, we strive to live Baptist’s mission of preaching, teaching and healing.
We take pride in providing the North Mississippi region with high-quality health care, but realize our responsibility to you doesn’t end there. As a not-for-profit hospital, our commitment is to live our mission each day not only within the walls of the hospital itself, but beyond the hospital by fostering partnerships, embracing a spirit of volunteerism and providing support for various community initiatives. When you consider all our efforts that provided benefit for the community this past year – whether through providing charity care for the indigent or such activities as free health screenings for the community – our total community benefit amounts to $31.6 million.
This year, Baptist North Mississippi contributed $44,000 to Northwest Mississippi Community College to support the college’s surgical tech program. We are proud to help extend the work the Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation started through an initial donation of $100,000 to revive the program two years ago. We also partnered with the Greater Oxford Foundation and made a $10,000 donation to benefit Oxford High School’s athletic program.
The colleagues at Baptist North Mississippi know that education is the key to keeping North Mississippians healthy. Through our many education classes, we have amply prepared expectant mothers to care for their newborns, helped newly diagnosed diabetics understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, prepared future babysitters to handle an emergency and provided hundreds of people with CPR and first aid certification. And we empowered more than 850 women last year to make informed health care decisions for their families through the Ladies’ Luncheon education series.
These are only a few ways Baptist North Mississippi gave back to our community in 2004; we are honored to submit this report to you to give you a brief overview of some of our community benefit activities. On behalf of the Baptist North Mississippi family, we thank you for making us your hospital of choice, and we pledge our continued commitment to offering you outstanding quality care delivered with great compassion.
Respectfully,
Zach Chandler
