This is what Baptist Union County looked like when it opened in 1966. Then it was known as Union County General Hospital.



1966: Union County General Hospital opens.


1979: The hospital’s fourth and fifth floors are added.


1987: The hospital joins the Baptist Memorial Health Care family and the name changes to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County.


1991: The hospital becomes the first in Mississippi to be accredited in mammography by the American College of Radiology.


1996-1997: Baptist Union County wins two consecutive Mississippi Quality Awards (Level III).


1998: The hospital begins performing orthopedic surgeries.


2003: New Albany Gazette readers vote Baptist Union County the “Best Place to Work” in the newspaper’s Reader’s Choice Awards; the hospital adds urology services.


2004: A renovated Women’s Center opens, with five labor/delivery/recovery suites, two surgical suites for Caesarean sections, a level II nursery for sick babies and a 15-bed postpartum unit.
