Baptist Memorial Hospital–Lauderdale is committed to providing high-quality health care to our patients and to being a key contributor to our community’s overall well-being. As a not-for-profit hospital, this is our mission. We strive to live this mission each day through the care we provide and by fostering partnerships, embracing the spirit of community volunteerism and providing sponsorships and in-kind contributions for various community initiatives.

Our 190 dedicated colleagues, Volunteer League and physician partners are Baptist Lauderdale’s most priceless assets. Their commitment to making our community a better place to live is evident in all they do. This report highlights just some of the many ways they have helped Baptist Lauderdale contribute to our community this year. For instance, Baptist Lauderdale colleagues volunteered to host the Lauderdale County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Tomato Festival 5K Run/Walk by providing first aid services to help ensure participants reached the finish line safely.

The hospital also strongly supports education and health initiatives in the community, especially education in health and sciences. Baptist Lauderdale was very proud to grant 11 scholarships to area students in 2004, in such fields as nursing, radiology, physical therapy and respiratory care.

We also supported families and children suffering from abuse or neglect through the hospital’s partnership with The Exchange Club’s Tina Turner Family Center, the county’s primary resource for addressing the problem of child abuse. But our community involvement doesn’t stop there -- our support extends across the community to include such activities as the following:
