As in other areas of health care, NEA Baptist’s Imaging Center continuously incorporates new developments in radiology and imaging to constantly expand the range of services offered to our region. NEA Baptist utilizes the cath lab to perform special procedures such as carotid angiograms or arteriograms of the arms and legs. For all radiology questions, please call 870-972-7260. CT Scanner Computed tomography (CT) imaging, also known as "CAT Scanning," makes it possible to detect minute differences in tissue structure that could not be readily identified with conventional techniques such as routine x-ray, fluoroscopy, or nuclear scanning. Our multi-detector scanner allows us to perform higher quality scans in less time. It is fast and patient friendly. MRI Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a computer-based imaging tool that displays the body in thin tomographic sections. The MRI utilizes an interaction between radio frequency pulses and magnetized hydrogen nuclei within the body to assist with patient diagnosis. Our MRI machine produces some of the best images in the region and is open enough that patients with mild claustrophobia are still able to withstand this exam. Main uses for MRI include:
Ultrasound This procedure utilizes high frequency sound waves to produce a film image of various structures. Ultrasound is frequently used on obstetrical patients to observe the unborn child. Mammography Mammography is one of the most highly reliable procedures for detecting breast tumors. Regularly scheduled mammograms can detect breast cancer in its early, most curable stages Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) Scanning This sophisticated imaging system gives doctors highly defined, 3-D images of form and function inside a patient's body. These detailed images provide doctors with critical information used in treating conditions such as cancer and heart disease. NEA Baptist provides patients with PET/CT services every Tuesday afternoon. Nuclear Medicine This imaging specialty uses a multitude of radioactive isotopes to visualize structures within the body. Nuclear medicine is used most often to locate areas of increased activity within the body that could be cancerous and in need of further evaluation. It is also used to provide thyroid therapy, detect a pulmonary embolius, etc.  Top of Page |
