Paul Betz Paul Betz

Paul Betz joined NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in 2008 as administrator and CEO.

In 2001, Betz joined the Baptist system as assistant administrator at Baptist Union City. Within months, he was promoted to administrator of Baptist Lauderdale, where he served for almost three years. In 2004, Betz accepted the position of administrator and chief executive officer for Baptist Tipton, where he served until accepting his position at NEA Baptist.

A native of West Tennessee, Betz was born in Jackson and reared in Memphis. He graduated from Germantown High School in 1989 and attended Lambuth University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. In 1995, he graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he received his master’s of business administration.

After graduate school, he completed his hospital administrative residency at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. He was hired by Memorial as an assistant administrator and then promoted to associate administrator. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Margrette Brent
director of quality and resource management

Margrette Brent joined NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in 1990. As director of quality and resource management, Brent directs and coordinates daily and budgetary activities regarding hospital-wide quality, risk and case management, infection control, employee health and medical staff office/credentialing. Brent is responsible for compliance with regulatory agencies. She also serves as the investigational review board administrator.

Brent earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Bible from Free Will Baptist College in Nashville, Tenn. She is also a diploma graduate from Baptist Hospital in Nashville.

Paula Grimes
chief nursing officer

Paula Grimes has been a member of the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital team since 1996. Currently the chief nursing officer, she previously served as director of ICU and CV services for the hospital. As chief nursing officer, Grimes is responsible for planning, implementing, directing and controlling activities and operations in nursing, pulmonary and rehabilitation services as well as in patient care areas.

Grimes earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from Arkansas State University. She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for Nursing. She received the NEA chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, "Excellence in Nursing of the Critically Ill Patient" award in 1999 and 2001. She also served on the American Heart Association board from 2000-2003.

Kevin Thielemier
director of human resources and ethics/compliance officer

Kevin Thielemier has been a member of the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital team since March 2005. Thielemier is responsible for human resources, compliance administration activities, and various operational departments of the hospital.

Thielemier has previously worked in human resources in the industrial, health care and technological markets. Previously, he worked as human resources director for Optus, Inc., a telecommunications company based in Jonesboro, Ark. He also served as assistant to the human resources director at NEA Medical Center (then, Regional Medical Center of NEA) and employment manager for SRA, a manufacturing facility located in Northeast Arkansas.

Thielemier is a current member and past officer of the Northeast Arkansas Society of Human Resources Management and also is a member of the Arkansas Healthcare Human Resources Association. He served on active duty as a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard from 1996 through 2002 and received the Yeater I award as an Outstanding Infantryman in 1997. Thielemier earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management, with an emphasis in human resources, from Arkansas State University.

Matthew Tulin
chief financial officer

Matthew Tulin joined NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in 2006. As the hospital’s chief financial officer, Tulin is responsible for several departments, including materials management, patient financial services, patient registration, information systems, health information management, documentation review, financial planning and analysis.

Tulin earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Alaska in 1992, and holds an active Certified Public Accountant license. He began his career with a regional accounting firm in their auditing division, performing primarily health care and telecommunication audits and consulting services. Since then, Tulin has worked for several hospitals as their chief financial officer.
