Health Tip
Ask yourself if it's worth it before you put it into your mouth.

Daily Bread
The LORD...will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
Psalm 91:9-11

Whether you’re recovering from major surgery, a stroke, or some other traumatic injury, physical rehabilitation can be a difficult and challenging journey. Even after successfully completing inpatient rehab, you face a whole new set of obstacles out in the world and may be unable to live at home without assistance.

Next Step at Baptist Rehab-Germantown guides you through this journey and aims to bring it to a more satisfactory conclusion. It is the first outpatient rehabilitation program of its kind in the Memphis area. You receive the same kind of intensive rehab you would as an inpatient, with the goal of reaching a level of independence where you can more fully participate in the activities that are important to you.

How long does the program last?
On average, people attend the program for about four weeks. In general, the following criteria must be met for you to continue participating:
  • You must need 2-3 hours of multidisciplinary, integrated therapy, 3-5 days per week. Skilled means that a family member or unlicensed person is not qualified to safely conduct the activities you need.
  • You must show a willingness to actively participate in the program. This means keeping appointments, arriving on time, and being involved in activities while you are here.
  • You must have the potential to make functional gains that are measurable.

What should I expect to achieve?
Ultimate goals vary according to the individual, but in general, Next Step strives to achieve the following:
  • Less dependence on others for care and decision making
  • Ability to manage own care
  • Participation in life to the extent you desire
  • Successful return to work or school
  • Knowledge and skills to maintain the gains made in the program
