Located within the hospital and adjacent to the Baptist DeSoto Outpatient Diagnostic Center, the Women’s Center is fully dedicated to diagnosing illnesses that tend to affect women more often than men. Three mammography units, a GE ultrasound machine and a bone density machine test for diseases such as breast cancer and osteoporosis. A stereotactic biopsy machine allows physicians, through a minimally invasive procedure, to take breast tissue samples without surgery. The Women’s Center opened in December 2002 and houses some of the most advanced imaging technology available for nearly filmless diagnostics. Tests are conveniently scheduled by admissions and scheduling staff and are conducted by compassionate physicians, nurses and technicians.
