 eroes use their unique abilities to better the community. Baptist Memorial Health Care’s strong tradition of serving our community goes back as far as the organization’s beginnings in 1912. Fulfilling our mission as a not-for-profit health care system means providing charity care, bringing important health services to our community and supporting other not-for-profit organizations with our charitable contributions and volunteer activities. But these are only some of the ways our colleagues and physicians throughout Baptist’s 15 hospitals in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas live and breathe our mission each day. To meet our not-for-profit mission of preaching, teaching and healing, Baptist commits hundreds of millions of dollars each year to providing care for the indigent, free health services, education and community support in an astounding variety of ways. To meet our mission, we focus our charitable contributions and efforts in three key areas: health and human services initiatives, educational programs and civic/community endeavors. Last year, Baptist unveiled a new charity care policy and a restructured community involvement philosophy. Under our charity care program, Baptist patients who fall below 400 percent of the federal poverty guidelines can receive assistance in paying their hospital bills, with eligible patients able to receive free care for medically necessary procedures. In these and many other ways, we’re responding to our communities’ need for high-quality, convenient health care closer to home. We’ve been fortunate enough to be able to provide these services for almost 100 years now, and with God’s help, will continue for 100 more.  Top of Page |
