Transvaginal Pelvic Ultrasound

What is a transvaginal pelvic ultrasound?

Ultrasound, also known as sonography, uses sound waves to produce images of your internal organs and other internal structures. A transvaginal pelvic ultrasound employs a transducer (wand-like instrument) inserted into the vaginal canal to examine the ovaries and uterus. This effective procedure helps physicians with a variety of diagnoses. Ultrasound does not require radiation or dyes. Learn more about transvaginal pelvic ultrasound.
