Breast Ultrasound

What is a breast ultrasound?

Ultrasound, also known as sonography, uses sound waves to produce images. Breast tissue has varying densities that appear, on a breast ultrasound, in different gray tones. A breast ultrasound can help your physician evaluate masses, inflammation, abscesses, and other conditions. It is also used to guide needle placement for biopsy or aspiration. Ultrasound does not require radiation or dyes. Learn more about breast ultrasound.
